About the Instructor: Jeff Waddleton is what you might call a Creative Professional. After graduating with a BA in English/Creative Writing from San Diego State University, he found work for several years in broadcast radio as a comedy writer and on-air personality. During this time, he also worked as a commercial scriptwriter developing creative ad campaigns and advertising spots for various clientele. Jeff also lent his comedy writing talents to two nationally recognized comedy podcasts from 2011-2019.
In addition to publishing a collection of short stories and poems, Jeff has worked as a story consultant and content editor for numerous writers and authors, served as a developmental editor on a feature-length Hollywood slasher screenplay, adapted a work of classic fiction into both a radio drama and stage play, and mentored numerous aspiring young screenwriters and developing adult novelists in their pursuit of creative genius. Recently, Jeff contributed the magic realism story "Birth of a Blue Heron" to the anthology Stay Awhile Longer: More Scenes from the Temecula Valley, publishined in 2024. He is also the President of Temecula Valley Writers & Illustrators, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping foster creative talent in the Temecula Valley - serving on the Board of Directors, on the TVWI Special Projects/Anthology subcommittee, and hosting the Spoken Nuggets spoken word series for the organization.
Jeff developed the curriculum for and began teaching creative writing programming for the City of Temecula Community Services Department in January of 2018. He currently leads the Creative Writing for Adults, Teen Screenwriting, Writers Critique Group, and Memoir Writers Workshop sessions that are available throughout the year.
Whenever he has two seconds, Jeff devotes time to completing his latest novel, the thriller, Temporary, due out in mid-2025.
